To my dear Mother-in-Law

Created by Mandy 3 years ago

From the first day we met you have always treated me like I had always been a member of your family.

A kind and thoughtful lady who took great care of me when I was expecting my first child, getting me to put my feet up so my ankles wouldn't swell, feeding me iron rich foods. In fact my midwife had never seen iron levels so high!

She would drive us to Hayling Island and we would just sit on the beach looking over the sea and on the way back she would stop the car by a field of lambs and we would just sit and watch them for a while before we set off home.

A true lady who was always well dressed and groomed to perfection - in fact even if the doorbell rang she would go in to the kitchen and open the cupboard door, where to my amazement she kept a lipstick and and there was a mirror mounted on the inside of the door. Once applied she would then answer the door.

With my own children she always offered me guidance and not interference for which I will always be grateful. She loved and looked after her Grandchildren with the greatest of care she always had for me. Once a week coming to visit and bring groceries. Petite Filous was always a favourite.

Then when Great Grandchildren came along she carried on with the great love and care.

Through the tough times she sent flowers always thoughtful and caring to cheer me up.

She was indeed a lovely, lovely lady.

I am deeply sorry that I couldn't come and take care of you at the end as you had always taken care of me.

I read this somewhere but I feel it is very apt:-

"You didn't give me the gift of life. Life gave me the gift of you"

You will always be in my thoughts

Your Loving daughter-in-law.

Mandy.  X
